Year/Major: 2nd year Anthropology major with a Business minor

Hello, I’m Allyson from Upsilon Class! I am an Anthropology major and Business minor. A cool thing about Beta Phi Delta is that there are different types of people in the family, from science majors to humanities majors. Being here, an active of a fraternity, is something I never would have thought I would be doing. Coming to college I actually promised myself that I would never participate in Greek life, which includes sororities, fraternities, and the such. I believed in the typical stereotype of promiscuous girls and drunk guys. But when I found Beta Phi Delta and got to know the family, I realized that the stereotype was not them at all! In fact, this fraternity is all about providing service to our community as well as being a family. The community service aspect is what drew me in the first place. In high school, I volunteered weekly in a hospital and a nursing home, and since I left my home and came to college I have not been doing much community service. Beta Phi Delta has given me the opportunity to participate in meaningful service while also hanging out with friends.

Some of my interests include cooking, playing tennis, and traveling. I am always down to watch movies or go to a concert. I love rock, but I listen to all types of music (yes, even country!). I consider myself to be an adventurous person and love to challenge myself by trying new things, like pledging for a fraternity. I believe life is all about making choices and dealing with the consequences of those choices. Nicki Minaj sums it up nicely: “Everybody dies but not everybody lives.” I think we must take risks and enjoy life to the fullest, even if that means leaving our comfort zone.
